The bell in the top bar collects your updates in FourFoxes: notices when your account nears or reaches a plan limit, and announcements from FourFoxes. Everyone on the account has the bell, on every plan and in every role, including Production Team. What you read or dismiss is tracked for you alone, so your teammates keep their own unread count.
Check and clear your updates
- Look at the bell. The red count shows how many updates you have not read, up to 9 and then 9+. With nothing unread there is no count. It refreshes about once a minute while the tab is open in front of you, and again when you come back to the tab.
- Click the bell to see your five newest updates. Unread ones are marked New. An announcement with more to read has an Open link.
- Click Mark read on an update you have seen, or Dismiss to remove it from your list. The count drops without reloading the page. A dismissed update does not come back.
- Click Mark all read to clear the count in one go. It marks updates read but does not dismiss them.
- Click See all to open the Updates page. It lists every update you have not dismissed, newest first, 25 per page, with the date of each. Use Previous and Next to move between pages. The same Mark read, Dismiss and Mark all read buttons work there too.
Plan-limit notices
FourFoxes checks your account's usage about every 15 minutes, so a notice can arrive a few minutes after you cross a limit. It watches four limits: Batches this month, Invoice scans this month, Team members and Storage. Each limit can raise two notices:
- At 80%, for example Batches this month: 80% used (24 of 30).
- At 100%, for example Batches this month: limit reached (30 of 30).
Batches and invoice scans start again each month, so their notices can come back the next month. Team members and storage notify once on your current plan, and again only after you change plans. Storage is counted in MB. A limit your plan does not have, such as batches on Producer, never raises a notice, and no notices are raised during your free trial. On a plan with one team member, the owner already fills it, so Team members never raises a notice there.
Admins and Owners see a Review plans link on each notice, which opens billing with the next plan up selected, when there is one. Members and Production Team see the same notice with An account owner or admin can change the plan. instead.
Email at 100%. When a limit is reached, each Admin and Owner also gets one email naming the limit, with the reset date for monthly limits and a Review plans link. Reaching 80% sends no email. The email is on by default. Each Admin or Owner can turn it off for themselves with Usage limit emails under Email alerts on Account Team. Turning it off does not remove notices from the bell.
Failed CCP checks and calibration reminders are not shown in the bell. They go by email to the Admins and Owners who have them turned on under Email alerts.
If your account is paused, read-only, archived or blocked
- Paused or read-only: the bell works as usual. You can read, mark read, dismiss and mark all read, even though other changes are blocked.
- Archived: you can open the bell and the Updates page, but Mark read, Dismiss and Mark all read do nothing until the account is reactivated.
- Blocked: the app is not available, so neither is the bell. Your updates are still there once access is restored.
