Security & your data
Security and your data, in plain terms.
Where your records live, how they are backed up, and how to take them with you. No jargon, no lock-in.
Where your data lives, and on whose hardware.
FourFoxes runs on DigitalOcean's App Platform, in their New York (NYC) region. Your records live in a managed PostgreSQL database that DigitalOcean operates, patches, and isolates at the network level.
Backups, and getting your data back.
Backups of the managed database run daily and are kept on a rolling seven-day window.
Just as important, our restore procedure has been tested. A backup is only worth having if you know you can recover from it.
Your data is yours, fully and always.
You can export a complete copy of your account's data at any time, for any reason. Account admins can download every record as CSV straight from account settings, with no request and no waiting.
FourFoxes claims no ownership of the data you put into the system. It is yours, and leaving with it is a button, not a negotiation.
Those records also have to last. 21 CFR 117.315 requires most food safety records be kept for at least two years, and for acidified foods, 21 CFR 114.100 requires processing records, including pH measurements, be kept for three years from the date of manufacture. Your records stay in FourFoxes for as long as your account is active, and the export above means the copy you hold is yours to keep for as long as any rule asks.
We run a food business too, and your data stays walled off from it.
The people behind FourFoxes also run production at Off The Deck Hot Sauce. That is why the product exists. It is also why we are explicit about this: every account's records are isolated to that account, on every query, at the application's data layer. Nothing about your suppliers, costs, recipes, or batch history is ever visible to our production business, used to benchmark it, or shared with anyone else.
We built the walls because we would demand them ourselves before putting our compliance records in someone else's system. Ours live here too.
If we ever wind down, you leave with everything.
If FourFoxes ever winds down, our priority will be giving customers time and tooling to take their complete records with them.
