Package a batch and set its batch code

Open the batch, click Package Batch, enter the packaging date and batch code, and save. Advanced accounts record packaging runs instead.

How packaging works depends on your account's inventory mode. Both paths start from the batch.

Simple mode

  1. On the Batches list or the batch page, click Package Batch.
  2. Enter the Packaging Date. This is the only required field.
  3. Enter the Batch Code (up to 6 characters).
  4. Record the Batch pH if the product ferments, plus yield and notes if you track them.
  5. Click Save Packaging Info, or Save & Print Label to print right away.

The packaging page also shows the batch's food safety checks, so you can log CCP readings without leaving the screen.

Advanced mode

Advanced accounts use the Packaging Runs page instead. Add one run per package type: pick the package (for example a 5 oz bottle) and enter the quantity filled. Set the packaging date and batch code in the same place. With the packaging date, batch code, and batch size recorded, FourFoxes creates packaged inventory lots from your runs and deducts the packaging you used from inventory.

About batch codes

A batch code is up to 6 characters and must be unique for that product. If you reuse one, FourFoxes shows an error and asks for a different code. Some accounts have an automatic code format configured; there the code is suggested for the packaging date you choose. Otherwise, type your own.

Check the fill warning

If the total fill across your packaging adds up to more than 105 percent of the batch, FourFoxes flags it. That usually means a typo in a quantity or fill size. Check before you save.
